The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has clarified claims made by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) regarding power supply interruptions on the Idowa 33kV feeder at the Ijebu-Ode 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
In a statement posted on Friday, TCN said the outage reported by IBEDC from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on January 15, 2026, was inaccurately described as part of a load-shedding schedule.
According to TCN, “our operational records show no load shedding imposed on the feeder during the referenced period. Instead, the Idowa 33kV feeder was taken out of service on a forced outage by IBEDC.”
The company urged IBEDC to ensure that information shared with the public, especially customers, “is accurate and reflective of the situation on the ground.”
TCN also reiterated its commitment to transporting bulk electricity efficiently to distribution company load centers nationwide and highlighted ongoing efforts to rehabilitate and expand the transmission network to improve system performance.
TCN called on IBEDC to review and update its social media post accordingly.
