The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has returned the 330kV Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 2 to service, restoring full capacity to one of the country’s critical power corridors.
The company confirmed that the line was successfully energised at about 8:32 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, following the completion of repair works by its engineers.
According to TCN in a statement on Monday, the restoration came after “extensive technical interventions aimed at ensuring the integrity and operational reliability of the infrastructure.” The works, it said, were carried out in strict compliance with established safety and quality standards.
With both Line 1 and Line 2 now in operation, the entire Shiroro–Mando 330kV transmission corridor is fully functional. The development is expected to reinforce bulk electricity transmission to Kaduna Electric’s franchise area, improve network flexibility, and enhance overall system reliability.
TCN described the restoration as a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s transmission backbone and ensure more stable electricity delivery across the grid.
The company also expressed appreciation to customers and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during the outage period, reiterating its commitment to building a resilient and efficient national grid.
The Shiroro–Mando line is a major transmission link in the northern corridor, playing a key role in wheeling generated power to distribution networks and ultimately to end users. Its full restoration is expected to ease supply constraints and support improved service delivery in affected areas.
