The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says two major transmission substations in Kaduna State have received new power transformers as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen electricity supply across the North-West.
In a statement, TCN disclosed that its Kaduna Region on Monday, March 2, 2026, took delivery of two 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformers at the Jaja Transmission Substation in Kudan Local Government Area and two 66MVA 132/33kV transformers at the Jaji Substation in Igabi Local Government Area.
According to the company, the substation projects are designed to improve transmission capacity and enhance the reliability of electricity supply across the region.
TCN explained that the projects are being funded by the African Development Bank and have already reached an advanced stage of completion, raising optimism among the company and host communities.
The company further noted that when completed, the Jaja 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation will be connected to the 330kV Kano transmission line, a strategic link expected to significantly reinforce power transmission in the North-West.
TCN added that the new substations are expected to help reduce power outages, improve voltage stability, and strengthen bulk electricity supply to distribution load centres, ultimately benefiting electricity customers across Kano State and neighbouring areas.
