NEMSA, FGN Power Company Deepen Partnership to Improve Safety

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) and the FGN Power Company have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration aimed at improving safety standards and operational efficiency across Nigeria’s electricity sector.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday after a courtesy visit by the management of FGN Power Company, led by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Kenny Anuwe, to NEMSA’s headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NEMSA and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Olusegun Adesayo, emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in achieving sustainable growth in the power sector. He noted that both organisations share a common national objective and must align their efforts to ensure improved service delivery.

Adesayo described FGN Power Company as a strategic partner, highlighting its role in managing critical power assets and supporting improvements in generation capacity and infrastructure optimisation. He added that enhanced cooperation would strengthen inspection processes, ensure strict compliance with technical standards, and safeguard lives and property within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.

He also commended the company for its contributions to the development of Nigeria’s electricity value chain, reiterating NEMSA’s readiness to sustain a mutually beneficial relationship.

In his remarks, Anuwe said the visit was to congratulate NEMSA’s new leadership and reaffirm his organisation’s commitment to closer collaboration. He outlined key areas of partnership to include strengthening transmission and distribution capacity, enhancing operator training, mobilising financing for critical projects, and improving coordination among stakeholders.

Anuwe acknowledged NEMSA’s role in supporting the company’s operations, noting that the agency’s regulatory oversight remains vital to ensuring safety and compliance across the sector.

He further explained that FGN Power Company was established by the Federal Government to implement the Presidential Power Initiative, a programme designed to transform Nigeria’s power infrastructure and improve electricity supply nationwide.
The renewed partnership between both organisations is expected to reinforce safety standards and drive improved performance in Nigeria’s power sector.
