The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 65th Independence anniversary, urging citizens to uphold peace, diversity, and unity as the nation continues its journey of development.
In a statement on Thursday, Umahi extended his goodwill to President Bola Tinubu and all Nigerians, describing Independence Day as a moment to honour the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers and reflect on both the milestones achieved and the challenges ahead.
“It is with esteemed honour that I felicitate with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and indeed all Nigerians on this auspicious occasion of our nation’s Independence Day celebration dated 1st October 2025,” he said.
The minister noted that the Renewed Hope administration has set Nigeria on a new path of progress through policies designed to convert challenges into opportunities and transform the country’s diversity into shared prosperity.
“Mr. President is changing the developmental trajectory of our nation through his Renewed Hope Agenda designed to turn our challenges into opportunities and our diversities into prosperity,” he said.
Umahi highlighted the government’s investment in infrastructure and socio-economic programmes across the six geopolitical zones, stressing that these interventions were stimulating sustainable growth.
“He has returned our country to the path of glory through massive investment in the critical infrastructure across the 6 geopolitical zones and through other social economic interventions that now stimulate progressive and sustainable economic growth,” he added.
The minister particularly pointed to the works sector, where he said the Tinubu administration has been tackling inherited road deficits. He referenced the Renewed Hope legacy projects as part of measures to expand the nation’s economic ecosystem and boost the Gross Domestic Product.
“The four Renewed Hope legacy projects are a part of measures to expand the frontiers of the economic ecosystems and stimulate the geometric growth of our nation’s GDP and Nigerians are witnesses to the progress he has so far made on road infrastructural development,” Umahi stated.
Looking ahead, the minister urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the spirit of freedom and unity, which he described as essential for building a brighter future.
“As we celebrate a new dawn in our journey of nationhood, may the spirit of freedom and unity continue to inspire every Nigerian to strive for a brighter future and may the liberties we cherish inspire us to keep the integrity of our nation,” he said.
He concluded with a call for collective commitment to peace and nation-building. “Let’s take a pledge to protect the peace, diversity, harmony, and unity of our great nation. Once again, congratulations to all Nigerians and have a blissful Independence Day celebration.”
