TCN Announces Six-Hour Power Outage in Ogun Communities Over Maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a planned power outage in parts of Ogun State following scheduled annual maintenance at the McPherson 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
In a notice issued on Thursday, the company said the maintenance exercise would take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on May 14, 2026.
According to the statement signed by General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the exercise would involve maintenance on the 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the McPherson Transmission Substation in the Osogbo Region.
“The maintenance exercise is to enable TCN crew undertake preventive routine checks on the transformer to ensure continued optimal performance,” the statement read.
TCN stated that the planned maintenance would temporarily affect electricity supply to customers served by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company in MacPherson, University and Ogunmakin communities.
“Consequently, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in MacPherson, University and Ogunmakin during the period of the maintenance,” the company said.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the outage may cause, assuring that power supply would be restored after the completion of the maintenance work.
