‎The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has praised the retiring Director of Press and Public Relations, Benjamin Bem Goong, for his integrity, professionalism, and 35 years of distinguished public service.

‎Speaking at a ceremony held in Abuja on Thursday to celebrate Mr. Goong’s diamond jubilee and retirement, Mukhtar described him as “a consummate gentleman and a dedicated public servant whose footprints will remain indelible in Nigeria’s communication sector.”

‎The Minister commended Goong’s unblemished record of service across 17 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, noting that such a feat is rare in today’s public service.

‎He expressed regret that Goong’s retirement came at a time when the ministry was beginning to fully benefit from his wealth of experience. “We will continue to consult him for guidance,” Mukhtar assured, urging the celebrant to use his retirement years to add value to his community and country.

‎“Retirement is simply changing tyres after a long journey. Use the new ones to create value for your family, community, and country,” the Minister advised.

‎The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Chinyere Ijeoma Akujobi, represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics; the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sonny Echono; and the Chief Judge of Benue State, Justice Maurice A. Ikpambese.

‎Also in attendance were the former Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii; National Coordinator of L-PRES, Dr. Sanusi Abubakar; as well as colleagues, friends, and associates who lauded Goong’s exemplary service and humility.
