The Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the Minister of Livestock Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Idi, has been promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in recognition of his exceptional service and contributions to national security, particularly in livestock protection.
Oghenekevwe Uchechukwu, Head of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that CSP Idi was among over 412 Senior Superintendents of Police recently elevated by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
CSP Idi was decorated with his new rank on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, alongside the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, at the NSA’s office in Abuja.
A respected law enforcement professional with over a decade of experience, CSP Idi has built a reputation for integrity, tactical expertise, and reform-driven policing. In his current role at the Ministry of Livestock Development, he has played a pivotal part in strengthening livestock security operations across the country.
Under his coordination, security teams successfully recovered over 90 rustled cattle in Kaduna and Kebbi States, returning them to their rightful owners. The operation helped ease community tensions and prevent reprisal attacks in herder-farmer settlements—an achievement that aligns with the ministry’s goal of promoting peaceful coexistence in livestock-producing regions.
Before his current posting, CSP Idi served as Chief Security Officer to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Folasade Yemi-Esan’s successor, Mrs. Esther Didi Walson-Jack, where he demonstrated strong leadership and inter-agency coordination.
The Police Service Commission said the promotions were part of its ongoing effort to reward professionalism and excellence among officers.
