The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday, visited the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at the monarch’s palace, pledging continued support for national development and regional progress.
During the courtesy visit, Oyetola paid homage to the revered traditional ruler, describing Oba Ladoja as “a pillar of wisdom and continuity within the region’s traditional and civic landscape.” He expressed gratitude for the monarch’s enduring contributions to peace, unity, and political stability, noting that “the Olubadan’s steady influence has helped guide Ibadanland and beyond through complex civic and political challenges.”
The Minister also discussed the advancement of Nigeria’s marine and blue economy sector, highlighting the potential of maritime resources to drive economic growth and create jobs. “Our commitment is to unlock the vast potential of our country’s maritime resources for economic growth and job creation,” Oyetola said.
Responding, Oba Ladoja commended Oyetola for his service to the nation, particularly in his current role steering the development of the marine and blue economy. The monarch encouraged the Minister to continue leveraging his office to promote sustainable development across the South-West.
The meeting also underscored the enduring partnership between traditional institutions and government officials. According to Dr. Bolaji Akinola, Special Adviser to the Minister, “the engagement reinforces their shared responsibility in promoting development, strengthening community bonds, and safeguarding regional stability.”
