The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Lagos State Government have agreed to strengthen collaboration to safeguard critical power transmission infrastructure across the state.
This was disclosed on Tuesday, during a courtesy visit by the management of TCN’s Lagos Region to the Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA).
Speaking at the meeting, General Manager (Transmission), Engr. Mojeed Akintola, said the engagement was aimed at deepening inter-agency cooperation to protect transmission facilities and prevent encroachment on power corridors.
According to him, closer collaboration with LASPEMA would promote orderly urban development and ensure strict compliance with rights-of-way regulations for transmission assets in Lagos State.
Responding, the Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to effective land-use management, stakeholder engagement and enforcement of planning laws.
He assured TCN of LASPEMA’s readiness to work with relevant agencies to preserve designated open spaces and support sustainable urban development in the state.
The General Manager of LASPEMA, Daisi Oso, pledged the agency’s full commitment to preventing encroachment on high-tension transmission corridors.
The renewed partnership, is expected to enhance the protection of transmission infrastructure and improve power supply reliability in Lagos State.
