TCN, NISO Boost Teamwork Through Workers’ Day Football Match

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) have reinforced workplace collaboration and team spirit through a novelty football match organised to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

The friendly match, put together by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), brought staff of both organisations together in a relaxed atmosphere aimed at promoting unity, healthy living, and stronger professional relationships outside formal work settings.

Played amid excitement and camaraderie, the encounter showcased skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship from both sides, with TCN emerging victorious after a 5–3 win over NISO at the final whistle.

Officials said the event was designed to deepen interpersonal connections among employees while encouraging a culture of wellness and collaboration across the power sector.

“The initiative highlights the importance of building relationships beyond the office and fostering teamwork among staff,” a participant said, noting that such engagements contribute to improved productivity and morale.

The match also drew the presence of top management from both organisations, including TCN’s Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider, Engr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye; Executive Director, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Chuks Ochijie; and General Manager, Engineering, Engr. Mojeed Akintola.

From NISO, Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services, Mr. Ibironke Babajide; General Manager, Human Resources, Mrs. Tijanni Halima; and General Manager, Legal Services, Barr. Bashiru Mohammed, were also in attendance alongside other staff members.

Observers noted that beyond the scoreline, the event underscored a shared commitment by both organisations to employee engagement, teamwork, and fostering a positive work culture within Nigeria’s power sector.
